This patch belongs to an ongoing body of landscape imagery drawn from the California Canyons—places shaped by light, weather, time, and quiet endurance.
Rendered entirely in black and white, the Yucca references historical photographs and early landscape studies, stripping the image down to form, contrast, and atmosphere. What remains is not a document, but a feeling—the dry stillness of canyon air, the slow patience of desert growth, the sense that these places are both monumental and deeply personal.

This bag reminds us of Georgia O’Keeffe. It is simple, sculptural, and depicts the undulation of a canyon as it seeks to meet the sky. Just like her work, and how she dressed, the base of this composition serves as the architecture to showcase the delicate artistry—the soul—of the hand-embroidery.

The base composition is a hand-screened aerial photograph of Los Angeles. Elements of the twisting meander of road and waterways are hand embroidered in Japanese cotton thread. This abstraction creates almost ghosts of what has been, referencing the layers of lives cities hold.
Comprised of 14oz raw canvas, 100% Japanese cotton thread, screen print ink, and lined with dead stock midnight blue linen, this mixed media piece pulls on the history of art, the celebration of the craft of embroidery, and the ancient practice of adorning bags.
Can be inscribed with customizable words, or only the hand embroidered map elements. Patches can be attached to these pieces as another base to collect on.
